A refined artistic pattern demonstrates virtuoso mastery of watercolor technique through depicting marine inhabitants on a gentle blue background. Decorative tropical fish are executed with graceful contour lines, emphasizing the natural grace of their forms – oval bodies are decorated with dotted ornament, fins are spread fan-like, creating a sensation of movement in the water element. Each fish differs with individual proportions and character of scale rendering, which testifies to the painstaking handwork of the master. Sea stars harmoniously complement the composition with their five-ray silhouettes, arranged between fish with thoughtful rhythm. Their surface is detailed with fine dotted pattern, conveying the characteristic texture of these echinoderm creatures. Star sizes vary, which gives dynamics to the entire drawing and avoids monotony of repetition. The watercolor background is executed in soft wash technique, where turquoise and azure shades flow into each other, forming an airy aquatic environment. Transparency of the paint layer allows the white base to show through the pigment, creating the effect of sun glare underwater. Color spot boundaries are blurred, which is characteristic of wet-on-wet painting – a classic technique of watercolorists. The author's handwriting is recognizable in every stroke – from the manner of depicting fins to the method of conveying volume of sea stars. The color palette is deliberately limited to shades of the blue spectrum, which enhances the sensation of immersion in marine depth and creates wholeness of perception. White spaces between elements give the composition air and do not overload the view with details. Such design will excellently suit decorating children's rooms, bathrooms, summer verandas or SPA zones. The pattern will organically fit into textile production – from bedding to beach clothing, will find application in creating wallpapers, ceramic tiles, dishes or packaging materials. Marine themes are in demand in the tourism industry for advertising brochures, souvenir products and interior elements of coastal hotels.
